BARTLETT Work Day

Details:ย ย 

You will need to carry a tool on this ride (or hike).ย  The ride leaders cannot fit all tools on their horses.ย  This can be backpacks, saddle bags or however you'd like to carry something like a hand trimmer or lopper. We can show you how.ย 

We will be removing brush about 2 miles up and daylighting the trail. ย  If we get far enough, we will be removing some trees further up the trail approx 7 miles in. ย  The work will include hand saw work, lopper and trimmer work.ย  There will be frequent ups and downs from your horse and the horses will be tied at varies times.ย  This will be an out and back to the Rye TH location.ย ย ย ย 

ย ย Trail Details: hikers, deer, bighorn sheep and hiker's dogs may also be present on the trail.ย  Trail is gravel dirt and few larger rocks here. Shoes recommended.ย  Elevation gain of a few thousand feet. ย  Ride time starts at 10am so hikers and riders please arrive at LEAST 45 minutes ahead to be saddled and join safety talk. ย  The ride will start on time.ย ย ย 

Directions and Parking :ย  There are 2 trailheads for Bartlett.ย 

ย We will be on the RYE side trailhead.ย  Parking is a dirt circular lot a few miles up a dirt road. ย  RSVP required so we know how many tools to bring and can communicate any ride changes.ย 

Please bring:ย  water for yourself, Sunscreen / hat, lunch and drinks, eye protection (sunglasses ok), hiking or cowboy boots (no sandals), work gloves, hat.ย  These are required by the Forest service for work protection.ย 

RMBCH will provide loppers and saws.ย ย 

10am ride start. Please arrive at least 45 mins ahead of time to tack up and have safety briefing.ย 

TO BRING - These are required by the Forest Service: bring gloves, hat, eye protection (sunglasses fine). Saws, Loppers and trimmers will be provided.ย  Bring water and pack a lunch.

No Horseย  & no RMBCH membership required if you are hiking.ย  RMBCH membership required if you are riding.ย  This will be a full work day for the leaders.ย  The equine portion will be lifting and hand sawing trees as well as lopping and trimming of smaller brush.ย ย 

Please be physically able to handle long, hot, hard work. However you are welcome to join the hiking groups on the same day and trail for a variety of physical abilities and a more relaxed work pace.ย  All groups will be starting from the same place.ย ย ย
